In 1937, a handful of Oklahoma City’s civic leaders founded the private, non-profit organization that is known today as Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma (PPCO).

After serving the people of Central Oklahoma for more than six decades, PPCO retains the original mission and vision of its founders. However, our operations and the role we play in the community are grounded in the reality of the new millennium. No one can deny that we deal with some of the most important and complex issues of our time.

With the leadership of a 23-member Board of Directors representing multiple constituencies, the direction of a skilled management team and the help of hundreds of donors and volunteers, PPCO staff provided medical, counseling, educational, outreach and advocacy services for more than 18,828 people last year.

The staff at Planned Parenthood are highly qualified, experienced health care professionals who see each client as an individual. We take a holistic approach and focus on prevention, wellness and empowerment.

Many people choose PPCO because they find our staff to be nonjudgmental and sensitive. Clients can enjoy a confidential, comfortable atmosphere with the knowledge that their personal privacy and dignity are, and always will be, respected at Planned Parenthood.

At PPCO, our professional staff encourage questions and explain all contraceptive, pregnancy and healthcare options. We believe that responsible decisions concerning sexual behavior and childbearing must be based on information and understanding, rather than on fear and a lack of knowledge.
