3/30 – Health Reform Package Now Law
On Tuesday, March 30 the President signed HR4872 – the reconciliation bill of the health reform package – into Public Law 111-152.
3/25 – House Passes Health Reform Reconciliation Bill
Following Senate amendment, the House voted 220-207 to send the reconciliation bill of the health reform package to the President, Thursday, March 25.
3/23 – President Ceremoniously Signs Health Reform Legislation, the President signed HB3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, into law amidst a crowd in the East Room of the Whitehouse. The second piece of the health reform package passed Sunday, 3/21, awaited consideration in the Senate.
3/21 – U.S. House Sends Historic Health Reform Legislation to the President In a 219-212 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives sent HR3590, the Senate passed version of health reform legislation, on to the President for signature. The House also passed a reconciliation measure, HR4872, with a 220-211 vote that modifies HR3590. This second measure is on to the Senate for consideration. Combined, known as the health care reform package, these measures are expected help ensure that 32 million additional individuals gain health insurance coverage. As a part of the provisions the package, an estimated 20 to 25 million additional individuals are expected to gain access to high quality, affordable and comprehensive primary health care through health centers. 12/24 - US Senate Passes Health Reform Measure
The Senate passed HR3590, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, with a 60-39 vote a little after 7 a.m., December 24. The House and Senate must now reconcile the health reform measures having passed in the respective chambers.
12/21 - Senate Takes Major Step in Health Reform Process
Over the weekend, Senators took a major step towards moving a Senate health reform bill. Saturday, Majority Leader Reid introduced a manager's amendment to the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, HR3590; and, in the one o'clock hour Monday morning, the Senate voted 60-40 to invoke cloture on debate of the amendment. Following the procedural vote, a final vote on the bill is expected by the end of the day Christmas Eve, December 24.
11/9 - House Passed Health Reform Measure HR3962
Late Saturday, 11/7, the U.S. House of Representatives passed HR3962, known as the Affordable Health Care for America Act with 220-215 vote.
11/5 - House Floor Vote Expected Soon on Health Reform Bill
The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on HR3962 by this Saturday 11/7.
